AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — Two men were struck and killed by different vehicles Friday night at the intersection of East Colfax Avenue and North Uvalda Street.

Westbound Colfax Avenue was closed at Ursula Street after police responded to reports of a pedestrian-involved crash around 8 p.m.

According to an updated press release from the City of Aurora, the preliminary investigation revealed a man was not using the crosswalk when he crossed East Colfax Avenue and was struck by a Mitsubishi sedan. The driver of the sedan immediately pulled over and exited his vehicle to help the victim when he was also struck by a separate vehicle, a Mercury Mountaineer.

Initially, Aurora police said three vehicles may have been involved including one that fled the scene, but police have confirmed only two vehicles were involved and the driver remained on scene.

Both of the victims were adults and their identifications will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.

Aurora police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has dash-cam footage to contact the Aurora Police Traffic Section.
