DENVER —  Over the past few days, Coloradans have endured below-freezing temperatures, snow-related car crashes and frostbitten fingers.

Outside of a few pockets of light mountain snow, Colorado skies will stay relatively quiet to start the week. Keep sunglasses nearby Monday as mainly sunny skies will carry throughout the day.

It might be a chilly morning with lows in the upper teens, but highs will surge back to the low 40s.  Tuesday looks similar with highs in the upper 30s.

More mountain snow and another shot of cold air will arrive with a cold front Tuesday evening.

The Front Range might get a light snow shower or two Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, but the mountains will again get a heavy dose of snow.

Early model projections are putting down more than a foot during that time frame for some mountain communities.

Meanwhile, cold air will plunge in behind the front, bringing lows into the lower teens and highs in the 20s for Wednesday around the metro area.
