DENVER — After what should be a fairly quiet night around the city, scattered rain and snow showers are expected to develop Sunday afternoon in the Denver metro area.

On-and-off snow will begin around noon mixing with a few raindrops at times. Little accumulation is expected during the day. Sunday night into Monday will transition to all snow.

By Monday morning’s drive, the northern half of the city will wake up to a dusting to 1 inch of snow.

The southern half will likely have to contend with 1-2 inches for the Monday drive. Meanwhile, the Palmer Divide will likely pick up anywhere from 2-4 inches of snow.

It’s going to be a mix of freezing rain, freezing fog, snow and ice for southeast Colorado on Sunday night through Monday morning.

Some of the ice is also possible for far eastern Colorado where winter storm watches and winter storm warnings are in place for dangerous travel.

The storm will begin with freezing rain and ice accumulation for the Plains on Saturday night before switching to snow Sunday through Monday morning.

As much as a quarter of an inch of ice could be covered by 4-8 inches of snow.

The storm will also deliver ice to Kansas, Oklahoma and Nebraska on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Significant ice accumulations are possible. Power outages are likely.
