Multiple roads impacted by icy conditions

DENVER (KDVR) — The Pinpoint Weather team is tracking Wednesday’s snowstorm that will cause slick roads in the Front Range early in the morning, and challenging conditions in the evening for the metro.

Wednesday is a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day.

Temperatures will be freezing today as well. The Pinpoint Weather team forecasts highs will only be in the mere teens causing icy conditions throughout the day.

The wind is also a big factor Wednesday. Gusts up to 20 mph will be felt in the northeast. The wind mixed with blowing snow could cause blizzard-like conditions, so take it slow.

FOX31 will have crews all across the state tracking this midweek storm.

12:35 p.m. Castle Rock and Douglas County have canceled their accident alerts.

9:35 a.m. Douglas County is also on accident alert.

9:13 a.m. Loveland is now under an accident alert.

8:46 a.m. Kristen Chapman just arrived in Arvada near 62nd and Wads where seven cars are stuck attempting to drive up an icy road. For detours around the mess, check out the traffic map.

8:26 a.m. Jefferson, Clear Creek and Gilpin counties are all on accident alert for falling snow.

8:25 a.m. Big traffic alert on Wadsworth Boulevard. Arvada Fire is responding to multiple vehicles that are stuck on northbound Wadsworth near West 62nd due to icy conditions. Thankfully, no injuries were reported but traffic is impacted.

8:22 a.m. Carly Cassady is up in Fort Collins where she said roads are snow-covered but not snow-packed. However, temperatures are freezing.

7:40 a.m. Denver is now on crash alert. Drive slowly if you have to go to work today.

7:34 a.m. Due to a high number of crashes in the area, Mead is under accident alert.

7:30 a.m. DIA is reporting 194 delays and 195 cancellations. Of those 195 cancellations, 146 are from Southwest.

7:15 a.m. CDOT is reporting a crash between I-225 and exit 201 at Hampden Avenue in Denver. The four lanes are closed. CDOT is reporting a 43-minute delay in the northbound lanes.

7:08 a.m. Castle Rock is now on accident alert. Please drive safely as the snow continues to fall through the morning commute.

7:00 a.m. Denver International Airport is now under a ground delay. According to the airport, departures are delayed an average of 83 minutes due to the snow and ice.

6:48 a.m. FOX31’s Jim Hooley is in Boulder where a few inches have already accumulated on the roadways. The temperatures in the teens are already causing roads to freeze. Conditions will continue to worsen in Northern Colorado.

6:00 a.m. Nineteen businesses and schools are closed this morning. Multiple schools in Northern Colorado are calling it a snow day. Is your school out for the day?

5:52 a.m. Fort Collins is now under an accident alert. That area is expected to get up to 6 inches of snow, so if you can stay home it would be a good idea today.

5:00 a.m. FlightAware is reporting that 45 flights out at Denver International Airport are delayed, and 180 flights have already been canceled.

4:45 a.m. The Colorado Department of Transportation is warning drivers about treacherous mountain driving conditions as heavy snow and strong winds will hit the central western part of the state.

Blowing snow will cause poor visibility and icy roads, so be prepared as you may run the risk of becoming stranded.

4:00 a.m. Two cities are currently on accident alert. This means that if you are involved in an accident with minor damage that doesn’t result in any injuries, and substance involvement isn’t suspected, exchange information and report online instead of calling the police.
