DENVER (KDVR) — Snow is accumulating in Denver and across the Front Range. Here’s the latest on the storm.
12:15 a.m. Interstate 70 westbound at C-470 has reopened. The roadway remained icy and snow-packed, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
Some snow was expected to accumulate overnight.
11 p.m. Colorado State Patrol urged people to stay off the roads.
“The roads are icy and treacherous,” CSP Golden tweeted. “We have had people driving the wrong way, Driving way too fast for the conditions. Spinning out on side streets. We urge essential travel only, slow down, drive with extreme caution if you have to be out.”
9:40 p.m. Denver Public Schools announced a two-hour delay on Thursday. See the full list of delays and closures here.
9 p.m. Colorado State Patrol said it may take another two hours to clear all of the stuck cars, trucks and big rigs from Interstate 70 westbound, where plows have been unable to access the highway.
Snow is accumulating by more than one inch an hour, CSP said. Opening will be reevaluated at 11 p.m.
8:45 p.m. School districts throughout the metro, including Douglas County and Cherry Creek, began to announce delayed starts for Thursday. See the full list of delays and closures here.
7:24 p.m. Fort Collins and Loveland are on accident alert.
6:38 p.m. Colorado State Patrol urged drivers not to travel west for “a few hours” after Interstate 70 westbound was closed at C-470 and US 40 was closed through Mt. Vernon Canyon.
5:34 p.m. Due to the snowy conditions, the City and County of Denver is on crash alert.
5:34 p.m. Thornton Police are on accident alert due to weather conditions.
3:37 p.m. Both southbound Interstate 25 near Johnstown and westbound Interstate 70 at Eisenhower Tunnel have reopened to traffic.
3:30 p.m. COVID-19 community testing sites announced early closures on Wednesday and delayed openings on Thursday. See the list here.
3 p.m. Interstate 70 over Vail Pass has reopened.
2:35 p.m. Multiple crashes west of the Eisenhower Tunnel have closed traffic between Loveland Pass and Silverthorne.
2:05 p.m. A crash on southbound Interstate 25 near Johnstown (MM 252.5) and a semi crash on westbound Interstate 70 on Vail Pass (MM 190) have closed traffic on both highways.
2 p.m. The Disaster Assistance Center in Lafayette closed early due to weather.
The City of Denver has closed offices and in-person services at 1 p.m.
