DENVER (KDVR) — The Pinpoint Weather team says a monsoon surge will arrive in Colorado this weekend.

Meteorologist Chris Tomer said the surge is expected to be the strongest on Friday night through Sunday night for the Front Range.

There will be a 40% chance of rain and thunderstorms on Saturday.

On Saturday, Tomer said the overall threat of afternoon rain and thunderstorms has decreased. The highest chances are for the divide and east. There are lower chances on the Western Slope. Highs will be in the 80s.

On Sunday, the highest precipitation chances come afternoon and evening for the divide and east with lower chances on the Western Slope.
