Police in Colorado are investigating Grizzlies star Ja Morant after he appeared to brandish a firearm at a Glendale, Colo., nightclub in an Instagram Live video posted Saturday morning, ESPN reported Monday.

In a week when the two-time All-Star has come under scrutiny for his off-court actions, Glendale police are reportedly investigating whether Morant broke state gun laws. Though Colorado is an open-carry state, it is illegal to possess a firearm while under the influence of alcohol. Morant was not seen drinking alcohol during the Instagram Live, but people around him were.

The NBA opened an investigation into Morant on Saturday because of the video. That same day, the Grizzlies announced the 23-year-old is expected to miss at least two games, but a return timeline has not been decided. Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins said Sunday the team takes the incident “very seriously” and it is an “ongoing healing process.”

Morant has since released an apology, stating that he was going to “take some time away to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being.”

The investigations into Morant come after The Washington Post reported Wednesday that the point guard allegedly punched a 17-year-old and then flashed a gun at him during a pickup basketball game last summer.
