BOULDER, Colo. — The North Boulder Little League All-Stars made history by becoming the first team from Colorado to advance to the Southwest Regional final on Thursday.

Fans of all ages packed the house at Harpo’s in Boulder to check out their local team on national TV, one win away from the prestigious Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.

A number of future North Boulder All=Stars made up the largest cheering section in the front row of tables.

“They’re a pretty good team to look up to,” 11-year-old Cooper Conroy said. “They have a lot of good players, I think they can win.”

Stars of past North Boulder All-Star teams also filled the seats.

“It’s awesome to see that a whole bunch of teams have gone back down (to the regional tournament in Waco, Texas) after us,” 15-year-old Luke Silvester said.

North Boulder fell behind early, prompting a bar full of “rally caps” and support from hundreds of miles away, but they would fall short, 9-2, as Pearland, Texas, advanced to the Little League World Series.

“To make it this far was brilliant,” said Eric Barr, coach of the 11-year-old team. “Just to see the community and everybody support them, and the great group of kids.”

The team will return to Colorado one win short of a trip to the World Series, but with a very proud community waiting for them.

“If I had the chance to make a big party I would definitely do it because they did so well and I am so proud of them,” 11-year-old Mason Bennink said.
