DENVER — Metro State University basketball coach Derrick Clark has been cited for DUI.
According to police reports, Auraria Campus police pulled Clark over at Seventh Street and Colfax Avenue just after midnight Tuesday morning.
The university released a statement late Wednesday night.
“MSU Denver is aware that Coach Clark was arrested for a DUI yesterday. The University takes these type of allegations very seriously, both in terms of public safety and the conduct of a university employee. MSU Denver President Stephen Jordan initiated an immediate review upon learning of the incident. Additional information may be made available once the review is complete.”
Clark, 44, has been coach at Division II Metro State for five years.
The Roadrunners have made it to the NCAA tournament every season, including three Elite Eight appearances and one national title game.
The California native previously was an assistant basketball coach at Air Force and the University of Colorado.
