FRISCO, Colo. — Lindsey Vonn was injured during a crash while training at Copper Mountain Tuesday morning, and on Wednesday, it was confirmed that she suffered a partially torn ACL during the crash.

It’s the same knee that Vonn injured at the Alpine Ski World Championships in Austria this past February.

“Lindsey has a mild strain to her right knee, a partial tear to her right ACL, minor facial abrasions and scapular contusions from her fall,” Vonn’s publicist Lewis Kay said.

Vonn had reconstructive surgery on the knee earlier in the year, and was slowly trying to work her way back to health, eying the World Championships in Beaver Creek as a return date.

With those races just 10 days away, Vonn will have to pull out of the competition. The injury may even make an appearance at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia this February a long shot at best.

That said, Kay said Vonn will “pursue aggressive physical therapy and will determine the next time she is able to compete after seeing how she responds to the treatment.”

There has still been no official report about what caused Vonn’s crash on Tuesday.
