ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos sent a conditional 2017 draft pick to the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday in exchange for quarterback Mark Sanchez, the team announced.
Acquired QB Mark Sanchez for a conditional '17 pick. He brings veteran leadership & will compete. This is the 1st step in our process.

The Super Bowl champions lost their top two quarterbacks this week when Peyton Manning retired and free agent Brock Osweiler signed a four-year, $72 million contract with the Houston Texans.
The Broncos inquired with the San Francisco 49ers this week about Colin Kaepernick, who has requested a trade. But ESPN reported Friday that Kaepernick is interested in joining the Cleveland Browns.
Besides the Broncos, the New York Jets also have interest in Kaepernick.
Sanchez likely isn’t the long-term solution at quarterback for the Broncos, but he’s a veteran who can be a serviceable backup and be elevated to starter if the need arises.
It’s been a long week for the Broncos. Besides the Manning retirement and Osweiler defection, defensive end Malik Jackson signed a six-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, linebacker Danny Travathan signed a four-year contract with the Chicago Bears and the Miami Dolphins signed running back C.J. Anderson to a four-year offer sheet that the Broncos have five days to match.
