Raul’s Rant: Demaryius Thomas on the rise, Ty Lawson falling behind

DENVER — Demaryius Thomas and Ty Lawson, two big stars in Denver, are going different directions.

Congratulations to D-T on his contract and his mom, who’s getting out of prison early — talk about an amazing week for a really good guy living the American Dream.

I love that he got his contract because if you want a guy to look up to… Look no further.

He came from a bad situation at an early age to this. At 11, his mother and grandmother were thrown in prison. He was raised by his aunt and uncle who put him on the right path. He went to Georgia Tech and then ended up in Denver.

Demaryius is a quiet guy with great character who puts his head down and works hard, stays out trouble and does things like he did today at his camp.

While Thomas is certainly one of the bigger role models in Denver, this guy is not acting like one.

D-T was at his camp; Ty Lawson missed his own this week because of his “traveling schedule.”

The parents at Lawson’s camp not too pleased.

What a year it has been for him — arrested again on suspicion of DUI… This week, it was in Los Angeles. Now heading to a celebrity rehab where I hope he can figure things out.

I`m tired of seeing mug shots of the nuggets point guard. This is disturbing seeing him in court so many times. Smoking a hookah on draft night and letting the world see it just adds to it; Missing practice and getting benched as well.

It was just a few years ago he was given a 4-year $48 million deal and there was hope he was sending the Nuggets in the right direction; Now you are wondering when he’s going to get traded.
