ENGLEWOOD, Colo. —  Mark Sanchez was named the starting quarterback for the Broncos’ first preseason game by coach Gary Kubiak on Tuesday.

Sanchez will play the first quarter against the Chicago Bears on Thursday night at Soldier Field. Trevor Siemian will work the second quarter and rookie Paxton Lynch will take the second half.

“I think this is the game to look at all those young players.” Kubiak said.

The team released its first depth chart Monday, with Sanchez and Siemian listed as co-No. 1 quarterbacks.

The Broncos selected Lynch with their first-round draft pick in April.

The four-year contract with Lynch includes a $5.1 million signing bonus and a fifth-year option the team can exercise after the 2018 season.

The Broncos were left without a starting quarterback when Peyton Manning retired after winning Super Bowl 50 and Brock Osweiler agreed to a four-year, $72 million contract with $37 million guaranteed with the Houston Texans.
