DENVER (KDVR) — The 18th head coach of the Denver Broncos, Nathaniel Hackett, was introduced by the team Friday afternoon.

Broncos General Manager George Paton said Hackett “blew us away” in the first interview, and highlighted his enthusiasm and willingness to get to know everyone in the organization right off the bat.

Paton said the Denver Broncos power meeting Monday night at Los Dos Potrillos with Hackett sealed the deal.

“I feel like this is a dream right now,” Hackett said when he spoke to the media for the first time as Broncos head coach. “To say that I’m excited would be a massive understatement.”

Hackett said he will be calling the offensive plays for the orange and blue, and highlighted his philosophy of complementary football to help win games.

“I think it’s about understanding what everyone is going through,” Hackett said. “It’s about the team. Whatever we can to do win the game as a team. It might not be a lot of offense, it might be more defense, but we have to work together to understand how those things all link.”

Hackett said this team will be taking more shots downfield.

The Broncos’ new head coach was asked about his stance on analytics, as numbers and statistics begin to take a more prominent role in the sport. He called them a great “baseline,” and thinks they’re “awesome.”

“They’re a great thing to show you and guide you and check what you do,” Hackett said. “There are so many different ways you can utilize them.”
