SAN FRANCISCO — Even a week before Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, Calif., flights from Denver to the Bay Area were full Sunday as fans made the early trek to start their Super Bowl celebrations.

They’re in the Bay Area, hollering for their team.

Sporting orange and blue, Luana has her two tickets in tow.

“I was originally leaving (Monday), but I didn’t want to get stuck in the snowstorm. I wanted a guarantee I was going to be here,” she said.

But for the Herringtons, this game is like a homecoming.  The Denver natives moved to the Bay Area a few months ago.  They can’t wait for their city to be invaded by Broncos brethren.

“It’s never felt more like home until literally we won the (AFC) championship and it dawned on us that the Broncos are coming close to us and they’re practicing at Stanford and it’s going to be a really fun week,” Tom Herrington said.

Herrington is as big a Bronco fan as there is.  For years, he has donned an orange tuxedo for the games.  He has even been featured on banners around Denver, showing his Broncos pride.

And when they won a Super Bowl spot a week ago , he was celebrating with friends atop a party bus in the Sports Authority Field at Mile High parking lot.

The fans might have left Denver, but this week, Denver is coming to them.

“It was kind of fun to come to our adopted home town and have our home town come to us,” Herrington said.

At the NFL Experience, fans can try on giant Broncos helmets, pose with cardboard cutouts of Manning, even play football. Broncos fans from Denver and California described the excitement surrounding all the events.
