SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Brock Osweiler, potentially the Broncos’ next starting quarterback, was caught on camera in Arizona avoiding what could have been a very bad situation over the weekend.
In the video that was first reported by TMZ, Osweiler appears to push away a woman who was going toward his wife, and then as he is walking away, he is shoved pretty hard in the back. But he then walks away from the situation.
The video has gone viral on social media and most are praising how Osweiler handled the situation.
He might have saved himself a lot of money and even a possible suspension from the NFL for doing what not all professional athletes do – walk away from a bad situation.
“He’s a very bright and smart young man,” said Andy Boian, founder and CEO of public relations and crisis management agency Dovetail Solutions in Denver. “He has a chance of a lifetime.”

With the potential of a mega-contract on the line and big shoes to fill if he stays with the Broncos, Osweiler let cooler heads prevail.
“In our opinion, the way it looked, although provoked, he handled it well,” Boian said.
It’s unlike other athletes, including like Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy, who was recently involved in a bar brawl, and the Los Angeles Clippers’ Blake Griffin, who punched a member of his team’s equipment staff. Osweiler avoided what could have been a PR disaster.
“At the end of the day, what happens is if you compose yourself and handle yourself well, there’s no story there and that’s what he did,” Boian said.
Dovetail Solutions has represented professional athletes and elected officials, so it knows the importance of off-the-field performance.
“If you’re seen as a hot head, someone that can’t keep his cool, someone hard to deal with, you’re less apt to make money off the field,” Boian said.
How Osweiler responded is how it coaches its clients to react.
“I think what was going through Brock’s mind was not only how to be a mature athlete, but also how to handle himself well financially,” Boian said. “That could have been a big hit for him and it’s not.”
The Scottsdale Police Department said it has reviewed the video and there is no crime or no victim so it is not pursuing any charges.
