DENVER — The Denver Broncos announced Wednesday that the 28th member of the team’s Ring of Fame will be the man that started the Ring of Fame, owner Pat Bowlen.
The selection committee unanimously voted Bowlen in, and for good reason.
He leads all NFL owners in overall wins, winning seasons and playoff appearances. His team has been in the Super Bowl six time and won it twice.
Bowlen publicly acknowledged last July that he is dealing with Alzheimer’s and he relinquished control of the team to President Joe Ellis.
Ellis made the announcement and quoted former Broncos superstar receiver Shannon Sharpe, who said, “Pat never wanted to take any of the credit, he wanted everybody else to get the credit.”
The induction ceremony will take place at halftime of the Sunday night game against the Green Bay Packers on November 1.
