ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos announced that 11 players were cut on Sunday, about 48 hours before they were required to do so by NFL rules.

Among the players cut were running back Brennan Clay, an undrafted rookie out of Oklahoma who many thought had a chance to make the roster, and offensive tackle Winston Justice, who saw playing time a year ago after being brought on to help the team’s offensive line depth.

Two wide receivers, Greg Hardin and Greg Wilson, two linebackers, Jamar Chaney and Jerrell Harris, two defensive linemen, Chase Vaughn and Will Pericak, safety Charles Mitchell and quarterback Bryn Renner were also cut Sunday.

The team will have to make two more cuts before the NFL’s first cut deadline on Tuesday at 2 p.m. By that time, all teams must reduce their 90-man rosters to 73.

The final cut deadline, at which point rosters must be trimmed to 53, will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

The Broncos’ fourth and final preseason game takes place on Thursday against the Dallas Cowboys at 6 p.m.
