Rockies get approval to have 12,500 fans at Coors Field this season

DENVER (KDVR) — The Colorado Rockies will be able to have some fans attend games in-person this upcoming season.

A spokesperson from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment confirmed Thursday night that the team was granted a variance allowing fans to be in the stands with “some adjustments.”

Friday morning, the team confirmed that it would be allowed to have 12,500 fans beginning on opening day. That’s 25% of the stadium capacity.

By comparison, the Denver Broncos were only allowed to have 5,700 fans in attendance at the few home games fans were allowed to attend last season.

Working with CDPHE, the team said it hopes to increase that attendance number in the future.

The Colorado Rockies will open the season at home against the World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers on April 1 at 2:10 p.m.
