Road closures to be in place for 4-day Colorado Classic bicycle race

DENVER — The four-day Colorado Classic started Thursday in Colorado Springs and will end Sunday in Denver.

The Colorado Department of Transportation will close roads to maintain safety for riders and spectators along state highways.

“In addition to our electronic resources, our traffic, maintenance and communications personnel are doing what’s necessary to make sure this event is as safe and successful as possible,” CDOT deputy executive director Mike Lewis said.

“Enhancing the cycling experience is part of our multi-modal mission and we see this event as an extension of that objective.”

Stage 1 will be held in Colorado Springs. Stage 2 will be in Breckenridge. And Stages 3 and 4 will be in Denver.
