Representative Mike Coffman (R-CO) introduced a bill yesterday that will authorize the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as the permanent construction authority on the Aurora VA hospital, and raise the $800 million spending cap to $1.1 billion.

Current law caps spending on the project at $800 million, but due to massive cost overruns and delays on the part of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the project is now estimated to cost north of $1 billion.
