The Fox31 Problem Solvers are helping your home look like a million bucks!  Only YOU will know how little it cost to decorate!

Designer Katy Byrne told us the best day to shop for decorations in December 26th.  Shopping ahead can save you big bucks.  Even boutique and high end store ornaments can drop to a dollar or less.  The best time to buy a tree?  The day after Thanksgiving, for price and selection.  There may be a tree shortage in some areas, because of draught conditions, so make picking out the tree a part of your Thanksgiving weekend family festivities, if you can.

Byrne also recommended a crafty homemade ornament kids can help make, with your supervision.

Designer Katy Byrne’s peppermint candy ornaments:

Preheat oven to 350F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spray the inside of cookie cutter or small skillet with cooking spray. Fill with one layer of peppermints.

Bake for around 8 minutes. Keep an eye on candy as it melts, remove from oven when candies have melted together.

After a couple of minutes, when candies have set, but are still soft and warm, use a toothpick to create a small hole for hanging in each ornament.
