DENVER — If you’re flying on American Airlines on Saturday, you might want to arrive for your flight early. That’s the day when American integrates the US Airways reservation system into its own and the US Airways brand becomes a thing of the past.
Passengers won’t need to do anything differently. But allowing for extra time might be a good idea.
The Chicago Tribune reports US Airways will cease to exist Saturday as far as customers are concerned. The combined airline moves to one website, one mobile app and a single set of travel policies and frequent-flier benefits. American and US Airways merged two years ago.
American says it is well-prepared to minimize the chances it will have trouble with the switch, but it can’t guarantee complete success.
Steps it has taken include: an increase of 20 percent in staffing levels at airports Saturday and American’s flight schedule was reduced by 200 flights Saturday.
