Winter’s visit on Thanksgiving slows things down for early holiday shoppers

Snow, ice slow traffic in Denver

DENVER — Drivers all over Colorado are thankful this year for snow plows and window scrapers. Snow, ice and generally tough road conditions slowed down the Thanksgiving holiday travel.

“The main roads aren’t too bad but the side streets are very slick and very icy,” Lauren Snow said after driving to Best Buy for Black Friday deals.

The conditions didn’t stop some from traveling to be with family, or others from getting a head start on Black Friday deals.

“When I saw the roads I was a little worried about getting there and I was hoping other people were going to stay away but that definitely wasn’t the case,” Snow said.

“Be careful and make sure the deal you’re going out to is worth it,” Chris Shima said.

Many people have already started to cross items off their Christmas shopping lists, while keeping their fingers crossed for similar weather on December 25th.

“I wish it would be like this on Christmas, but it’s definitely cool to see the snow on Thanksgiving,” Vincent Piraino said.
