Video: Snowmass town councilman causes serious damage to jail cell

Chris Jacobson

SNOWMASS, Colo. — A Snowmass Village town councilman was recorded on surveillance video doing a number on a Pitkin County jail cell.

Chris Jacobson, 50, was arrested two weeks ago for allegedly driving while drunk, according to the Aspen Times.

While in the cell, he picked up a mattress and threw it to the floor and at the door.

He also tore sections of the wall right off, damaging lights and electrical wiring according to authorities. They moved him to another cell because of the exposed wires.

And then—when officers put him in a restraint chair—he rocked the chair so hard it broke away from the metal clasps bolted to the floor.

In a phone interview with the Aspen Times afterward, he expressed gratitude for the work officers do to keep the community safe.
