Arvada, Colo. — A local dog rescue group, The Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies, is dealing with an emergency situation, its Executive Director said.
According to Kevin Shipley, there’s a group of dogs in Istanbul, Turkey in need of help.
“We received a call from our Istanbul contacts who were worried about a group of Goldens stuck in a mountain area open shelter, and as temps drop below freezing starting in December, they were concerned for their survival over the winter,” Shipley said.
Shipley said his organization is helping fly the dogs into Denver in mid-December. An emergency fundraiser is currently underway to help with the cost.
