ARVADA, Colo. — Tucker Lake in Arvada has a leak.  But that’s not too bad for a 150-year-old reservoir.

It’s about a half mile wide and a half mile long and holds about 800 acre feet of water that now needs to be drained for repairs.  It will take about five weeks to drain the lake to the bottom, but crews have to wait for freezing weather to solidify the muddy lake bottom to get in and go to work on repairs.

Even though the lake was never stocked with fish,  the fish gotta’ go.  Every single one.  “We’re asking the local anglers to harvest as much of the population as they can,” Cliff Deeds, Arvada Water System Manager said.

Anglers still need to have a valid state issued fishing license, and follow all fishing rules and regulations.

But as Tucker lake gets more empty, Colorado Parks and Wildlife might lift the limit of fish one can take. But right now, it’s status quo.

So fisher people, start your poles.
