GREELEY, Colo. — For the second time in two days, Donald Trump visited Colorado to rally voters.
Trump visited the University of Northern Colorado Greeley’s campus on Sunday afternoon, just a day after hosting an event in Golden.
Sunday’s event had a little bit different tone than some previous Trump rallies.
The Republican presidential nominee briefly addressed the recent news regarding Hillary Clinton’s email investigation, saying he expects to gain in the polls after “the bombshell of corruption that was exposed.”
About 2,500 people packed inside the Bank of Colorado Arena.
“There are thousands of people outside and you have the Denver Broncos, your team is playing right now,” Trump said to a cheering crowd.
He compared football to politics, but said “politics is a much rougher game than football, and more exciting.”
“Elect me and we will stop terrible hikes,” Trump said.
He wasn’t talking about hiking a football. He was talking about tax hikes and health care costs.
“Real change begins with immediately repealing and replacing Obamacare. What a mess,” he said.
While Trump used Sunday’s event to take a few jabs at Clinton, he said in the final days of his campaign he wants to begin touting a more positive message.
“My contract with the American people begins with a promise to end government corruption,” he said.
While he focused on core issues such as national security, creating jobs and revamping the Veterans’ Affairs system, Trump also touched on a few issues close to the hearts of many Coloradans.
“We have under our feet so much wealth,” he said. “My administration will put the miners back to work and we will unleash the power of clean coal, oil, natural gas and shale energy.”
He said all of it is part of his plan to put America first. In a little more than a week America will find out if he’ll get that chance.
