FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A 24-year-old Fort Collins resident and entrepreneur started a taxi business. Well, sort of. Andrew Victora’s cabs have human power plants, as in pedicabs. No engines.
Business was good, but it got better after Victora noticed something peculiar on the street.
“Well you see a bunch of zombies walking down the street looking at their phones, sometimes a little unsafely,” Victora said.
He soon found out there was a game afoot.
“Oh, my God, everyone’s coming back to the ’90s, it’s so great,” he said.
It’s called Pokémon Go.
“Just walk around and it uses your location and as you’re going … you kind of use the camera on your phone and you find Pokémon around wherever you’re at,” said Josh Hales, a Pokémon Go player.
Then, one evening, Pokémon Go and Tadpole Pedicabs collided and it was a match made in Pokémon Go heaven.
“We go at speeds that you need to go to actually hatch your eggs. And you can go slow enough to catch your Pokémon at the same exact time,” Victora said.
So now more Pokémon Go players are using Victora’s Tadpole Pedicabs in Fort Collins. It’s quick, safe and comfy.
The only down side is Pokémon Go is free, but pedicab taxi rides are not.
