JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office started a campaign to support young local entrepreneurs on Friday.

Entrepreneurs like this, usually serve refreshing lemonade and tasty treats to the community, while learning skills of running a business.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office launched a ‪#‎CopsLoveLemonadeStands campaign to help build a relationship with the community and to support local youth.

“We love this idea, which was started by our friends at the Palo Alto Police Department,” the department posted to Facebook.

This campaign started about a month after two girls in Texas were forced to shut down their lemonade stand because a Police Officer said they didn’t have a permit to sell to the public.

They encourage the community to inform them when a lemonade stand is set up so Sheriffs can come show their support.

“Though we can’t always promise a deputy will stop by, we will make every effort to, taking into account our calls for service,” the Facebook post said.

The community can let officials know about stands by commenting on their Facebook page, sending a private message on Facebook or emailing Dionne Waugh at dwaugh@jeffco.us .
