DENVER — While much of the country, and world, place bets on Super Bowl 50 Denver Zoo has taken on a wager of its own. The Zoo agreed Thursday to some friendly competition with counterparts in North Carolina.
When the Broncos win, directors Patricia Simmons from the North Carolina Zoo and Chris Gentile of the Western North Carolina Nature Center will greet guests in Broncos gear in their own main entrances, holding a sign congratulating Denver.
If the Panthers win, Denver Zoo President/CEO Shannon Block will wear the jersey of Panthers quarterback Cam Newton in the Zoo’s main plaza while holding a sign congratulating Carolina.
In the sporting spirit, and art of intimidation, some of Denver Zoo’s animals will also soon receive Panthers-themed gear. The animals’ rips, shreds, tears, and overall destruction of the Panthers regalia will add to the city’s overall spirit prior to the big game.
