BURLINGTON, Vt. — Vermont-based ice cream maker Ben & Jerry’s announced Monday the launch of a new ice cream line that highlights four new flavors, each with an extra sweet “core” center.

The new “Core” line was revealed Monday and was crafted in the spirit of the company’s popular Karamel Sutra flavor, according to a press release from the ice-cream manufacturing juggernauts.

Boasting four flavors, Hazed & Confused, That’s My Jam, Peanut Butter Fudge and Salted Caramel, the new line features a core layer of sweetness that runs down the middle of each pint, said Ben & Jerry’s.

The “core” layer is intended to compliment the other two “super-premium” layers of ice cream and add texture to the pints, the company added.

“We are always looking to make something bigger and better for our fans,” said Eric Fredette, the lead flavor developer. “We wanted to blow out the concept of fun flavors, chunks and swirls and take it over the top.”

All four flavors are fair-trade-certified, use non-GMO sourced ingredients and will be available as pints at retailers beginning in February 2014, said the ice cream company.
