Weekend traffic tangle at southbound I-25 off-ramp at Sixth Avenue

DENVER — Expect traffic delays this weekend beginning Friday night when crews on the Colorado Department of Transportation’s  U.S. 6 Bridges Design Build Project will shift both directions of Sixth Avenue onto new bridges over Bryant Street and the South Platte River.

Doing so will require a series of impacts along the project corridor, resulting in a six-month closure of the southbound Interstate 25 off-ramp to eastbound U.S. 6.

Closures continue to cause traffic back-ups on Saturday afternoon drive.

“This traffic shift marks a major milestone for the project and will create room for a significant amount of additional work as we keep moving toward completion in the fall,” CDOT project director Kevin Sullivan said. “Drivers should remain alert, as there will be a new traffic alignment come Monday morning.”

The off-ramp will be closed beginning at 6 p.m. Friday. Westbound traffic will be shifted onto the new bridges built over I-25.
