LOVELAND, Colo. — Authorities with the FBI and the task force created to investigate random shootings in Northern Colorado searched parts of Allendale Park in Loveland Thursday.

A couple dozen investigators examined the area thoroughly for 12 hours with shovels and metal detectors, looking for evidence that could assist in the investigation. Allendale Park is located at the corner of 18th Street and Chelsea Drive.

The park is in a residential area a few blocks away from where a person reported they had been shot at on June 3, the same night that someone else was shot and killed in Loveland.

That person’s report led to a description and sketch of a vehicle of interest possibly related to the random shootings in Northern Colorado.

The vehicle is described as a 1970’s full-size single cab Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck that that is faded orange in color with a full-size bed. It’s believed to be a 1973 to 1979 model GM based on the round headlight shape. It has black primer on the driver’s side body.

David Moore, task force spokesman, told the Coloradoan that they were investigating a lead, but he would not elaborate for what sorts of evidence they were searching. He did confirm  similar investigations have been happening since the task force was formed in May.

The police activity, near McKee Medical Center in Loveland, triggered a 30-minute lockdown at the hospital due to “inaccurate information about a potential threat” due to the police presence. Loveland police said there was never actually a threat on the hospital.

Investigators have not announced any of the evidence found in this investigation or any of the other investigations they have conducted. As of Thursday, no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.

The FBI is offering a $22,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest, prosecution and conviction. Larimer County Crime Stoppers on Tuesday also announced it would award $2,500 for information leading to an arrest.
