DENVER — At History Colorado, the RACE: Are We So Different? exhibit is helping families talk about the white elephant in the room … racism.
“We know race is a difficult subject to discuss. Our current exhibit is giving people an opportunity to see how much we have in common and how alike we really are,” said curator Alison Salutz.
While the show describes how racial classifications came about … workshops held in conjunction with the exhibit go further. Because the “How To Talk To Your Kids About Race” program has been so successful, the Center has added two additional workshops on December 6. One is from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and the second isbetween 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
You can register for the sessions online or call 303-866-4689.
With Ferguson in the news daily, the “race” exhibit will give parents an option when it comes to explaining the who, what, when, where and why of the shooting and riots.
