GOLDEN, Colo. — Police arrested a 22-year-old man Sunday on charges that he killed a Golden man and set fire to his house.
Firefighters battling a house fire Saturday morning found a dead man inside the structure. Upon investigation, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation determined that the man was the victim of a homicide.
Police began looking for Thomas Laperch, who rented part of the burned home and had not been heard from since the fire.
The suspect was found and arrested on Denver’s 16th Street Mall Sunday afternoon, police said. Laperch was being held at the Jefferson County Jail on murder and arson charges.
Due to much of the evidence having burned, police have not yet confirmed the victim’s identity, the Golden Police Department said. Official identification was expected on Monday.
