Suspect accused of shooting Denver officer charged in separate home invasion case

DENVER — The man accused of shooting a Denver police officer last week was charged in a home invasion robbery Monday. This is a separate case that happened in September.

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey filed a number of charges against 36-year-old Jason Wood that include:

The charges allege that on September 30 Wood and another suspect went into a home in the 3800 block of Perry Street, assaulted two people and then stole tattoo equipment and a woman’s purse.

The other suspect in the case, 39-year-old Jennifer Lovato, was charged in this case earlier. She faces three counts related to aggravated robbery and burglary.

Wood was arrested last week as the suspect accused of shooting Denver Police Officer Tony Lopez Jr. during a traffic stop Tuesday morning near West 37th Avenue and Federal Boulevard.

Wood remained in custody Monday. His bond in the home invasion case was set at $50,000. His bond in the officer shooting case was $500,000.
