DENVER — The man accused of shooting a Denver police officer last week was charged in a home invasion robbery Monday. This is a separate case that happened in September.

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey filed a number of charges against 36-year-old Jason Wood that include:

  • 3 counts of aggravated robbery
  • 2 counts of second-degree assault
  • 2 counts of first-degree burglary

The charges allege that on September 30 Wood and another suspect went into a home in the 3800 block of Perry Street, assaulted two people and then stole tattoo equipment and a woman’s purse.

Wood was arrested last week as the suspect accused of shooting Denver Police Officer Tony Lopez Jr. during a traffic stop Tuesday morning near West 37th Avenue and Federal Boulevard.

Wood remained in custody Monday. His bond in the home invasion case was set at $50,000. His bond in the officer shooting case was $500,000.
