CASTLE ROCK, Colo. — Delia and Robert Hardy’s names were picked on FOX31 Denver and Colorado’s Own Channel 2 Thursday morning as the 2012 St. Jude Dream Home winner in Castle Rock’s Meadows Subdivision.

The Oakwood home is worth $470,000 and is loaded with all the bells and whistles. From upstairs laundry room, to super-sized closets and baths, this home is amazing!

“I am in shock, it’s too good to be true,” said Delia Hardy, who is a stay at home mom. “We brought my mom in Sunday to see, what we have been calling ‘our home,’ since we bought the ticket when the contest began.”

A ticket cost $100.

“She knew we were going to win, me and the kids were just along for the ride,” said Robert, who moved here from Southern Colorado six years ago and is a software developer. “While we only live a few blocks away, this home is not one to give up… we’re moving in!”

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital needs almost $2 million a day to operate, and fund raisers such as this help generate those funds. This event raised $1,150,000, as all 11,500 tickets that were available were sold.

Thanks to all of the vendors including Oakwood Homes for coming up with a dream home that the Hardy’s can hardly wait to move into.

There will be some figuring on how to pay for the taxes but if they sell their current home, much of the money they make can handle the taxes while they make offers on furnishings they might want to keep.

Congratulations to all who ‘took a chance’ and bought tickets…for those not so lucky this year… all you have to do is wait for next year’s dream home contest!
