NORTHGLENN, Colo. — An old, empty Albertson’s was at the center of development plans prompting a standoff by small business owners in Northglenn.

It involves the shopping center at 104th Avenue and Huron Street.

The business owners said the city wants to use eminent domain to fix the strip mall, but they think it’s not fair since it will put many of them out of business.

A city council meeting covering this issue  took place on Monday evening. Protesters took the opportunity to express their opposition to the city’s plans and hoped city leaders would reconsider.

The city says the area is a nuisance and it needs to be redeveloped.
