These are some photos from the scene of the shooting, including images of victims being treated, the suspect’s vehicle behind the theater and the suspect’s confiscated riot gear.

There are also images of the suspect’s apartment at 1690 Paris Street in Aurora, which  authorities spent two days working to get into because they say it was booby-trapped.

Police say they found Holmes at the back of the theater with three weapons — a handgun, a shotgun and an assault rifle. He was wearing a riot helmet, a gas mask and a bulletproof vest and told police he was in possession of homemade explosives.

Holmes moved to Denver from San Diego to pursue a PhD and studied at the University
Colorado-Denver. He withdrew from the school in June.
