DENVER – Spring showers are in full swing with Friday evening bringing some strong rain and hail storms to Colorado.
Scattered storms are expected to lightning, heavy rain, gusty winds and possible small to large sized hail through the Foothills and metro Denver area.
The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning was in effect for Jefferson County Friday afternoon, with quarter sized hail reported.
Some snow fell in the high elevations above 11,000 feet.
The storm passed over the Denver International Airport area as well.
The storms are expected to move onto the eastern plains by 6 to 7 p.m. tonight and past Colorado around 9 to 10 p.m. Warmer sunny days are in the forecast for this weekend with possible rain in the afternoon.
Next week, rain has been predicted Monday through Friday next week, bringing much-needed precipitation to Colorado before summer.
