DENVER — Denver’s Chief of Police Robert White was involved in a hit and run that later resulted in a two vehicle crash with serious injuries at 16th Avenue and Yosemite Street, police said.
The two crashes happened around 5:15 a.m. on Friday morning.
Police said the chief’s vehicle was hit by minivan driving eastbound at 16th Avenue and Willow Street while the chief was driving to the gym. The suspect continued driving from the scene and the chief made a u-turn to follow the suspect who then hit another vehicle at 16th and Yosemite.
The chief was taken to the hospital as a precaution. He was later released.
The suspect was ejected from the vehicle during the second crash and was transported to an area hospital and is in surgery. A second victim was also taken to the hospital.
