Riot Fest music festival faces uncertain future in Byers

Residents of Byers attend meeting about Riot Fest

BYERS, Colo. — The future of Riot Fest was at the center of a crowded debate in Byers Tuesday night. Arapahoe County officials heard from concerned residents.

The three-day music festival is set to be held at May Farms at the end of September. But some members of the community have organized against it.

Supporters and opponents of Riot Fest had a chance to voice their opinions at a public meeting.

Organizers of the music festival were also there. They say they’ve operated events in other parts of the country and they say the idea is to host a good event as a good neighbor.

The Arapahoe County Planning Commission will review the information it gathered at the meeting before deciding whether Riot Fest will go on as planned.
