GREELEY, Colo. — The jury has reached a verdict in the Tom Fallis trial, just hours after it deliberating around 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
The prosecution and defense rested in the trial Wednesday afternoon. Both sides gave closing arguments before the judge handed the case to the jurors.
Fallis, a former Weld County sheriff’s jail deputy, is on trial for murder in the death of his wife Ashley on New Year’s Day 2012.

Her death was originally ruled a suicide until a FOX31 Denver Problem Solvers investigation uncovered new evidence. Fallis was indicted, accused of killing his wife.
The final prosecution witness was Weld County Coroner James Wilkerson. He initially ruled the death a suicide but then changed the cause to undetermined, citing the reopening of the investigation that shined new light on new information.
The defendant said Wednesday he needed more time with his attorneys to decide if he would testify. Defense attorneys called a couple of witnesses and then rested their case without Fallis taking the stand.
