Special bike built for cross country trip stolen

DENVER — Mark Kerlin feels so strongly about fighting against cruelty to animals, that he is willing to ride his bike from Denver to New York City to raise awareness.

But someone decided to steal his bike.

“It has had me depressed.”

Kerlin spent months building a special road bike to carry him the 2,065 miles to his destination.

Kerlin posts pictures of animals in need of a good home or medical attention on his Instagram and Twitter pages.

He said, “I just try to find animals homes. Doesn’t matter what kind of animal.”

Kerlin said someone stole the bike from his Lakewood home while he was sleeping.
