GOLDEN, Colo. — Camp Erin is a grief camp held every summer near Golden for kids coping with the death of a loved one.
Two camp attendees — Tyler and Sean — were helping each other deal with the loss of their fathers. After their story aired, there was a huge response from viewers.
Camp Erin said it received a large, anonymous financial gift that will cover the cost for 15 extra kids to attend camp in August.
“Actually, before the (first) story had ended, we started getting emails. It was breathtaking. So a lot of people that want to volunteer. A lot of people who just said, ‘You know, when I was younger, my dad died and I wish I had had this.'” said Barb Kamlet, director of Camp Erin.
Kamlet and the other volunteers from Shimmering Wings, the local organization that runs Camp Erin, have already started planning for next year’s camp.
