DENVER — Security questions have been raised after a Colorado company was found to be maintaining Hillary Clinton’s private email server. The company was operating out of a building in lower downtown Denver when it first started handling the private email server in 2013.
At the time, it was a small company operating out of a loft in an apartment building.
A former employee, who left before the Clinton contract, said that at that time it was just a small operation that kept its own servers in a bathroom closet.
Platte River Networks has grown and has moved in recent months to a new building.
A lawyer for the company confirmed the FBI picked up the email server last week.
Clinton said she deleted about 30,000 emails off the server that she called “personal” before turning over another set of 30,000 emails to the State Department.
“I was permitted to and used a personal email and, obviously in retrospect, given all the concerns that have been raised, it would have been probably smarter not to,” she told Iowa Public Radio last week. “But I never sent nor received any classified email, nothing marked ‘classified.’ And I think this will all sort itself out.”
But authorities going through the emails said they have found at least 60 that were classified, mainly at low levels.
The former employee of Platte River Networks said she has no idea how what she described as a “mom and pop operation” got the Clinton business.
David DeCamillis, a frequrent IT guest on “Good Day Colorado,” is the company’s vice president of sales and he said he cannot comment.
Platte River Networks did not return a call seeking comment.
