AURORA, Colo. — Police are asking for help finding a 16-year-old girl who has been missing for a week.

“I’m just scared for you baby, just call mama, please just call me,” Stine’s mother, Sabrina Jones, said while fighting back tears.

Jones said Stine has no history of running away. Her friends don’t know where she is. And she doesn’t understand what would cause her daughter to leave their home around 2 a.m. on July 15.

“Maybe she was getting ready for bed and maybe somebody called her or something like that,” Jones said.

Now, Jones said Stine’s phone goes straight to voicemail. And it’s what she left behind, and the amount of time she has been gone, that has Jones so concerned.

“She took nothing,” Jones said. “Her money is here. Her movie tickets are here. There is no clothes missing. Even her phone charger is here.”

Aurora police spokesman Chris Amsler said they don’t have any evidence to suggest a crime was committed, but they are treating Stine’s disappearance as suspicious.

“This is very unusual for her and she has no history of running away,” Amsler said.

The Aurora Police Department was ramping up efforts to find Stine on Friday. A volunteer team began posting flyers, and an emergency response team began canvassing the area near Peoria Street and East Montview Boulevard around 5 p.m.

Lashaya was last seen on July 15 at 2:30 a.m. in that area, according to police. Jones believes her daughter left on her own that morning, but had planned to return.

“I just feel like something is wrong and I feel like she wants to come home and someone is either talking her out of it or they`re not allowing her to,” Jones said.

She had this message for Stine: “I’m not mad at you, I’m just scared. And to at least call me to let me know you’re alright.”

Stine is 5-foot-6, weighs 150 pounds, has long black hair, brown eyes and a quarter-size round scar on her chest, police said.

She was last seen wearing a white long sleeve shirt and black stone wash jeans. She typically wears a silver watch on her left arm, according to investigators.

Anyone who sees Stine or has information about her whereabouts are asked to call 911.
