LONGMONT, Colo. — For the fourth time in two weeks, there has been a stabbing in Longmont, and this time, police say it was over Facebook postings.

The Longmont Police Department said that at about 9 p.m. Wednesday, two men from the Denver area drove to the 300 block of 23rd Avenue where they say they confronted a 25-year-old man over Facebook posts.

The victim then was pulled from his apartment and was stabbed by one of the suspects, police said.

A witness told FOX31 Denver that the weapon appeared to be a cellphone. The witness said the suspect smashed the phone against a car to create a jagged edge, then attacked with that implement.

The victim was taken to Longmont United Hospital where he underwent surgery for nonlife-threatening injuries.

Police say they are searching for the two suspects — a 29-year-old male and an unknown Hispanic male — who fled the scene of the stabbing before officers arrived.

It was initially thought the suspects entered an apartment building at the southeast corner of Collyer Street a block from the site of the stabbing, but after a search, the building was cleared.

The names of the victim and suspects were not released.

It’s the fourth stabbing in Longmont in less than two weeks.

On March 14, Vincent Hernandez was arrested after his girlfriend reported she had been stabbed in the neck.

On March 17, police say Omar Martinez stabbed his parents before taking his own life. His father died and his mother survived.

On March 18, Michelle Wilkins, who was seven months pregnant, was beaten and stabbed after she responded to a home to look at baby clothes through an as posted on Craigslist.

The suspect in that case, Dynel Lane, is due back in court Friday.

“Longmont is a safe community. We’ve just had a very rough week,” Longmont Police Cmdr. Jeff Satur said. “We’ll get through it. I want to assure people that Longmont is safe and we’ve just had a very unusual week.”
